Going on a Health Binge

Ok, I know.  "Binge" seems so temporary. Let me try another word. How about health "journey"?
I've started counting calories. I know, old school, huh? Well, I'm a bit late to the game, because I must confess; I...hate counting calories.
But, I just realized how simple and rewarding it is. I can actually 'see' what I'm eating. By counting calories, I
     ● can see exactly how many calories a product has, as well as the nutritional value
     ● make better choices in selecting the best foods that compliment my health & wellness goals

I'm excited about my new adventure.  I've even started a Facebook page called Active Warriors for Healthy Living. I invite you to join me there

I Had To Make A Time Change

Good Morning/Day everyone,
Had to switch my work schedule to nights. It feels strange, because I'm not use to it.
But, I do feel less stressed and more fulfilled. I'm finding that my days have become centered around a lot of family, and other activities, and that's Ok.
But, this was conflicting with my work schedule; making me feel stressed and dissatisfied.  I knew I had to do something.  So, I scheduled a time change.
I just made the adjustment; so far so good. I still answer my customers' and clients' calls and emails throughout the day. But for now, any other things pertaining to my business, are done at night.
This helps me to stay productive, deal with setbacks, and still spend time with, and take care of the family.
Its going to take some getting used to, and I may need to adjust it again.
The key is, to overcome setbacks, and maintain balance in every area of your life.
I primarily chose nights because  I need quiet time, to be productive. It helps tremendously, because the rest of the family is asleep.

How about you? Have any of you had to make any major adjustments to your work schedule? How do you adjust to changes when setbacks come?
I'd love to hear. Post your answers in the comments section.

Earth Day 2013

Today is Earth Day. My family and I make every day Earth Day, by reusing/recycling items, or donating them back, keeping our neighborhoods, parks and streets clean, by not littering, etc. But we wanted to do something special for Earth Day.

So, yesterday,  for Earth Day, we visited our local Virginia Living Museum, to visit all the wonderful animals, and share a great meal together. My daughter also bought a Native plant, to support the Museum & to help her appreciate the Earth. She actually started her plant collection a few weeks before Earth Day; and she's done a wonderful job at taking care of it, too.

My daughter is an avid animal lover, so we headed out to the Animal Aid Society in Hampton, VA. She's a pet pal. This means she signs up to be a special friend to the pups and doggies that come to the shelter.  She spends the most time with one doggie, at a time. She can walk him or her,& bring treats and toys. We even bought our own Animal Aid Tshirts that we wear when we go to the shelter.
We had so much fun; we do everytime. The only hard and pressing part about visiting the shelter is: my daughter becomes attached to the dogs so easily. She wants to bring them all home. It's so hard saying no to her.  I know how much she loves animals. It's always a day followed up with pleadings after pleadings,  to bring a new dog home with us.

Well, that's my Earth Day story for 2013. What's your story? I'd love to hear how you spent Earth Day. Post your story below.
And thanks for blogging with me.

Happy International Women's Day 2013

To all the women, from all over the world;
Happy International Women's Day! You are such a powerful force in this world. Be yourselves, and shine your lights.
Last year, I paid tribute to all the women across the world, with Alicia Key's "Super Woman" video:

This year's tribute: Alicia Keys is back with "Girl on Fire". I feel like this is the perfect song to describe each and everyone woman. You are all special and have your own gifts to bring to the lives of those you touch, all around you.

For all the "girls who are on fire", please enjoy this tribute: This one's for you

Time for A Camomile Tea Break

It's been a long day, and boy, am I ready for a camomile tea break. It's just one of the ways I relieve myself from the stresses of the day; Errands, household chores, work, kids, bills; you know, everyday life. Thank Goodness for moments like these.

Checking In...Update: Jan 19, 2013

Google Image

It's an early Saturday morning, and I've been up since 4am. (I just can't seem to get with the "sleep-inners" anymore). In fact, it's been awhile since I actually "slept in". My kids are all grown up, but I think I'm suffering from "work-week routine" syndrome.

I get up at 4am every day, and it seems that my body's biological clock has been linked to 4am. It won't let me sleep in, no matter how hard I try.

So today, I'm going to catch up on some reading; books and emails, have some tea, watch a Lifetime Movie and pull out those old VHS &  DVD tapes I haven't seen for awhile.
I also plan to spend some quality time with my family, and rejuvenate my spirit, with some quality time in my "prayer closet".

I figure, just because I can't adjust my biological clock, I can still adjust what I do with the time. I can learn to relax, and ax the "work-week schedule". Just as Garfield says, "Relax, It's the Weekend". And I'm taking that good advice.

Well, that's today's update in Sarah Kim's Days in the Life of A Mompreneur. My daughter is editing a fun-family "photo/video show". I'll be uploading the video to my YouTube page, SarahKimMompreneur, soon.

Thanks for blogging with me. Have a happy weekend! Until next time, LIVE life!

Moving-When Is It Really Over?

My family & I finalized our move, just before the holidays, but, we are still not finished. When you decide to move, there's a lot to consider. There's the before, during & the after.

The preparation phase stirs up all kinds of feelings; excitement, nervousness, anxiousness, tired and weariness, hurriedness, etc. And, it seems that these feelings kick into overdrive, during the move.

So, what happens after the move? Well, perhaps, there's a sense of relief, more excitement and then, more hurriedness. Now, you are in a new place, but there's the unpacking to do, the cable & phone hookup, which takes up most of your day, by the way. Then there's the need to change addresses for all the magazine or catalog subscriptions you still want. (These don't get forwarded automatically).

I'm sure there are more things-to-do, on the list, so the point being; moving is a long process; which brings enough of it's share of stresses to the table. We are still "moving".

Be prepared for the before, during and after. It will finally come to an end.

We love our new home, but, we have to learn new places & meet new people, & still scramble through a long list of things-to-do. We also have to learn the rules of the community, & how the mail runs.
But it will come to an end.
